These are a nice quality toy. The pieces are quite large so there are no choking hazards. Small toddlers will be able to use these safely. There is one lace and this is pretty thick and the aglet is reinforced and sturdy to allow easy threading. Came packaged in a sturdy box but that was the entire packaging. This travelled through the mail only in the product box which was not taped shut. Miraculously it arrived with its entire contents.
